Turkish police officer killed in PKK clash

The Interior Ministry stated that a total of 46 PKK militants were "neutralized" during operations conducted in the Hakkari, Tunceli and Şırnak provinces.

A policeman and a militant from the Kurdistan Workers Party (PKK) were killed in the southeastern city of Diyarbakir on Friday, the local governor's office said.

When they entered the building, clashes broke out during which a hand grenade was detonated and 10 officers were wounded.

The PKK - listed as a terrorist organization by the US and European Union as well as Turkey - resumed its armed campaign in July 2015.

More than 12,000 PKK terrorists were also killed in the same period.

He said the clashes in Turkey's southeast were continuing.

One police officer was killed and another nine were wounded on November 3 during operations targeting outlawed Kurdistan Workers' Party (PKK) militants in the Kayapınar district of the southeastern province of Diyarbakır, the province's governor's office has stated.

Fighting intensified in the southeast between Turkish security forces and the PKK after the collapse of a two-year ceasefire in 2015.

Turkish security force on Thursday clashed with PKK militants on Turkish-Iraqi border in southeastern Hakkari province, leaving eight members of security force killed.

It was not possible to independently verify the toll.
