But later in the show it seems that someone must have told Scherzy about the criticism, because after the break a red poppy appeared on her dress.

She wrote: 'I'm always late, it fell off running to stage and replaced it as soon we could! i have the upmost respect for everything it stands for!'

"Nicole has been wearing a poppy over the past week, including the Saturday show".

A third agreed, writing: "Why isn't Nicole wearing a poppy????"

The X Factor airs 8:10pm on ITV every Saturday.

A spokesperson added: "Nicole's poppy fell off her outfit on the walk to the stage".

Following this message up, Nicole then drew attention to the fact that she had been dressed as a "giant poppy" for the Sunday show of the weekend.

Scherzinger had started the show without a poppy pinned to her stunning cream-coloured dress.

"@TheXFactor anybody else noticed Nicole hasn't got a poppy on show a bit disrespectful as all other judges have there's on", a second added.

The Don't Hold Breath songstress oozed sex appeal in her crocheted white dress which highlighted her ample cleavage with its knitted silhouette.

Thankfully following an ad break, Nicole returned to their screens with a glittering poppy brooch in place and in full view of the cameras.

Although Nicole was tearful following the mother-of-three's energetic performance to Jennifer Lopez's Ain't Your Mama, she praised the hopeful's attempt and called her an "inspiration".

The American music star said: 'Simon just said: "She is the heart of the show".

Last week Overs wildcard Talia Dean was given her marching orders.

The weekend was a tough one for Scherzinger whose contestant Kevin Davy White may have won the sing-off, while Tracy Leanne Jefford lost the public vote.
