McLaren 720S gets Dubai-themed MSO makeover

One-off Mc Laren 720S revealed at Dubai motor show

One-off Mc Laren 720S revealed at Dubai motor show

As if that wasn't enough, the heat shield is also made from 24-carat gold, in a lovely nod to the company's 25-year-old F1 supercar. "Life is measured in achievement, not in years alone", is emblazoned across the 720S' active rear wing.

From those hours, 30 of them were devoted exclusively to the rear wing, which features Arabic lettering in gold paint, stylised to echo the Dubai city skyline.

To personalize the vehicle added more than 120 hours to the production process.

McLaren has revealed its latest McLaren Special Operations (MSO) one-off - a black and gold 720S bearing founder Bruce McLaren's words on the rear spoiler. Exterior upgrades replace the front splitter, air intakes, rear bumper and roof with carbonfibre units.

To create the desired visual impact of the gold lettering, custom stencils produced by the MSO design visualisation team had to be used. The interior is also completely black, with both black Alcantara and black leather trim complemented by MSO Defined carbon fiber sill panels, fascia vents and steering wheel. The vehicle was made to order for a customer who will take delivery soon after the show.

Satin gold-painted elements include the extended gearshift paddles, center band to the steering wheel, the spokes, and the door trim.

In total, the car's bespoke treatment added 120 hours to the usual production time for a McLaren 720S.

The 720S remains unchanged under the skin, but we doubt the buyer will be left wanting for power - the car's 4.0-litre twin-turbocharged V8 engine produces a mammoth 710bhp, with 0-60mph taking well under three seconds.

Speaking on the occasion, Andreas Bareis, Managing Director Middle East, Africa & Latin America for McLaren Automotive, said, "The quote from Bruce McLaren rings true not only of the history of McLaren, but also the achievements of the UAE and the Gulf states over the last four decades".
