Susan Sarandon Talks About The Hate She Got From Hillary Supporters | susan sarandon

In an interview with The Guardian, the 71-year-old actor rejected the idea her decision to vote for the Green candidate was a protest vote, maintaining the Bernie Sanders write-ins were more of a protest, and said NY was an easy place to vote for Stein.

Actress Susan Sarandon arrives at the Time 100 gala celebrating the magazine's naming of the 100 most influential people in the world for the past year in New York April 29, 2014.

Asked about her comment before the election that Clinton was more unsafe than Trump and if she stood by it, Sarandon said she was misquoted but wasn't bothered by the sentiment. "People are really hurting; that's how this guy got in".

She said that when she recently took a stand on Dreamers, a program to allow children who entered the USA illegally to gain citizenship, after Trump threatened to revoke it.

"Not exactly, but I don't mind that quote", she said when asked about the comment. However, it's the assertion that fans got that she believed Hillary would be more risky than Trump in office that's been hard to shake.

She says it's "flattering" that some assume her voice held so much sway over the population but she didn't find the attacks upsetting.

"Well, I knew that NY was going to go [for Hillary]. We would still be fracking, we would be at war [if she was president]", she told the Guardian. "Look what happened under Obama that we didn't notice", she said.

And the Thelma and Louise star said she is angry with those who allegedly protected disgraced movie mogul Harvey Weinstein.

But she concedes there are lots who said no, and when they tried to report it they were dealt with a shrug.

Lest you think the Ray Donovan actress is targeting Clinton to the exclusion of other politicians, Sarandon also offered her critique of former President Obama's administration. "You who are responsible for this!"

She said that she had never been cornered, battered or forced against her will. But it's slow going.
