The FBI filed charges Friday against a Modesto man who had "radical jihadi beliefs" and was possibly planning a terror attack at Pier 39 in San Francisco on Christmas Day, according to a criminal complaint.

According to court documents, Jameson selected the Pier 39 location because he "knew it was a heavily crowded area".

His Facebook account was flagged as suspicious when he began "liking" and "loving" posts that were pro-ISIS and pro-terrorism.

Special Agent Christopher McKinney said in his affidavit that Jameson hoped to mimic previous terror attacks in San Bernardino, Calif., and New York City, which the agent took to mean using both firearms and a vehicle.

The FBI's investigation began on September 19, when an FBI informant reported a suspicious Facebook account.

"In or about June 2009, Jameson attended basic recruit training and graduated several months later", the documents say. Jameson said he could provide money, and even go to Syria.

Jameson allegedly told the agents that he needed ammunition, powder, tubing and nails.

When asked about an escape plan, Jameson replied "he was ready to die". The agent said, "We can only do Allah's will", and Jameson replied, "In Sha Allah one day I can".

Federal Bureau of Investigation agents conducted a search warrant on Wednesday at a residence in Modesto and found a note signed by Abdallah Abu Everitt Ibn Gordon Al-Amriki, dated December 16, which in part said, "I Abdallah add Everett ibn Gordon have committed these acts upon Kuffar, in the name of Dar al Islam, Allahu Akbar!"
