Miguel Sano denies assaulting photographer: 'It never happened'

Miguel Sano of the Twins is accused by a freelance photographer of an assault at an autograph signing. "Until more information is gathered, the Twins will have no further comments".

Bissen's post was retweeted more than 1,400 times within three hours of posting, and received hundreds of replies - including a couple from Twins players.

Bissen wrote at the top of the Twitter post, "This is not easy for me to share, but I feel I need to share it".

After the signing, Sano, now 24 and from the Dominican Republic, wanted to go to a nearby Apple store. I was in a squatted position with my wrist throbbing.

"I screamed, no one came to help me", she states. He finally gave up after a solid ten mins (sic) of me fighting to pull me thru (sic) that door'. She didn't name the coach, but Butch Davis was the Twins' first-base coach in 2015 and was sacked after the 2016 season. The first base coach didn't bother me until he tried to ask for my phone number.

After the event, Sano grabbed Bissen, who had been taking photos of Sano interacting with fans, by the wrist and insisted that she accompany him as he shopped, Bissen wrote.

Sano was not named until the concluding sentence.

After a half-hour, Sano made a decision to leave with his agent, and went out a back door, Bissen said, then said he needed to use a restroom. The woman said she did not want to make a scene so she followed along for about a half-hour until the athlete and his agent declared it was time to leave.

It was then that the aforementioned assault allegedly took place.

"I don't even want to think about what he may have done, had he got me through that door".

"No, he didn't rape me, but he sure did assault me", she continues. "When I said no, it should've been the end of it". He should have respected that and stopped. "It hurt, how badly he was grasping at my wrist but he wouldn't let go. The next day, my body was sore all over from having to fight off this athlete that thought he was entitled to take advantage of me against my will".

Sano, who was named to the American League All-Star team in 2017, has been mentioned in several reported trade rumors recently. As the face of the Twins' surprising performance last season, he's key to the team's success moving forward.

Bissen's Twitter post is below.

Twins pitcher Trevor May responded to the note that he was sorry for what Bissen went through, and free agent infielder Trevor Plouffe, who played for the Twins from 2010-16 similarly tweeted that he was "so sorry about this".
