Camping World to re-open 69 Gander Outdoors stores

Lemonis's company, Camping World Holdings, purchased Gander Mountain in an April bankruptcy auction, promising to keep at least 70 of the 162 stores open. "The new location at 605 South Wichita Street will introduce more than 55 jobs to the community along with its 85,000 sq. ft. outdoor retail, apparel, supply and service space".

Gander Outdoors, formerly known as Gander Mountain, will be reopening in the York, Pennsylvania market this spring.

Lemonis said the new stores will feature three distinct departments - focused on hunting and shooting, boating, and camping and active sports - run by separate businesses owned by Camping World. Other locations are in Kenosha and Sheboygan.

The CEO and CNBC host announced in May that he planned to reopen the Gander Mountain store in the Watertown mall as Gander Outdoors, along with stores in Plattsburgh, Cicero and Kingston, and disputed claims that the stores were closing.

Gander Mountain died in bankruptcy early past year but its new owner, Camping World, is reopening about half of the shuttered stores as Gander Outdoors, with numerous same outdoor recreation products.

It sounds like the Gander deal is closer to happening, though DeBoer said that "as of right now the store is vacant, and it's available to lease".

Gander Outdoors is always looking for seasoned and professional sales associates, specialists, technicians, and retail support to assist with locations across the country.

Details are to follow on the free and open to the public Grand Opening event and the official ribbon cutting ceremony.

The store closed in May 2017 after Gander Mountain went into bankruptcy.

Camping World's careful acquisition of Gander isn't a reflection of limited ambitions.
