Late-Night Hosts Mock Trump-Bannon Feud

"Nothing gives you more credibility than Donald Trump calling you a liar", explained Colbert.

But whether Trump listens to Colbert and ends up nominating him for any or all of his "fake news" awards or not, it's clear that the president is not the No. 1 fan of the First Amendment and what it entails, having sued, or at least threatened to sue, many news organizations and journalists for doing their jobs. Add Donald Trump as an interest to stay up to date on the latest Donald Trump news, video, and analysis from ABC News.

"The president announced the mock awards presentation on Twitter Tuesday night to his 45.9 million followers".

"You hate me, you really hate me".

Noah: "Honestly, I don't even know if that is a metaphor".

"Donald Trump did not want to be president".

As for Bannon, he signaled late Wednesday that he would continue to stick by Trump, despite the increasing tensions between the two. He didn't want him to win.

Steve Bannon, campaign CEO for Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump, looks on during a national security meeting with advisors at Trump Tower on October 7, 2016, in NY. To further defend Bannon's claim, Colbert jokingly shared a CNN promo that shows an egg frying in a pan, saying "That's Don Jr".

Arguing against Bannon's statements, Trump referred to the former campaign CEO as a "staffer" and had "very little to do" with their "historic victory".

Colbert: "Let's go to another bombshell from former Trump adviser and what happens when your syphilis gets herpes, Steve Bannon".

It reached a fever pitch in May, when Colbert addressed Trump's cordial relationship with the Russian president: "The only thing your mouth is good for is being Vladimir Putin's c- holster". He made a lighthearted appeal to bring them back together: "One of you is a millionaire who loves the forgotten man". There's nothing amusing about what he says.

Late-night host Jordan Klepper, meanwhile, joked that the Trump-Bannon feud had the air of a divorce.
