An autopsy was performed and found that she was stabbed in the torso and hit in the head. "Steele-Knudslien later wrapped Christa's body in a tarp and moved her to the basement which is where the body could be found".

The investigation into her death was opened after her husband, Mark Steele-Knudslien, walked into the Adams Police Department headquarters Friday evening. She and other advocates later started the Miss Trans New England Pageant, which brought together transgender women from across the region, said A. Vickie Boisseau, who officiated at her wedding last April.

He is to be arraigned this morning on a murder charge at Northern Berkshire District Court.

Her husband Mark Steele-Knudslien was arrested after confessing to the crime according to Pink News.

He is being held without bail and "did admit to the murder", police Sergeant Scott McWhirt told the Boston Globe.

McWhirt said the couple had lived in Adams for "quite a few years" before moving to North Adams approximately a year ago.

Christa Leigh Steele-Knudslien's death is the first homicide in the western MA town of North Adams since 2013, according to the Eagle.
