Nevertheless, Dell is quite confident with the ability of the laptop as it claimed that the XPS 15 2-in-1 is the smallest, thinnest, and most powerful 15-inch 2-in-1 laptop in the world.

Dell held its CES press event today, and alongside of the new XPS 15 2-in-1, the company also launched new Latitude PCs, which are designed for businesses. The XPS 13 is aimed at traditional office workers, prosumers and hardware fanatics looking for a compact but powerful laptop.

The new XPS 15 2-in-1 delivers the CPU and graphics horsepower to run content creation apps, process huge files and play AAA games while featuring touch, pen, an innovative maglev keyboard and the screen real estate that creators crave. Both have identical storage and memory options to last year's models. You can get it with 500GB of storage for $439 or 1TB of storage for $799.

The key difference between the two stems from their differing CPUs and graphics. It is available with either an Intel Core i5-8305G or an Intel Core i7-8705G processor. It combines an 8th Generation Intel Core processor with AMD's own Radeon RX Vega M graphics. Intel's new processors built in partnership with AMD are supposed to offer high performance without compromising the thin profile of devices like the XPS 15.

Dell's new $99 active pen works with the XPS 15 two-in-one. But when Intel unveiled the chips at the start of January it made some pretty impressive boasts and showed the RX Vega M GL chip playing AAA titles at 40fps-plus framerates in 1080p. That makes it only slightly chunkier than the top-specced XPS 13, which measures in at 11.6mm thin. The other OEM is HP which has upgraded the Spectre X360 line-up from past year to offer the new chipsets.

It includes a 14-inch FHD display, and the low power screen should reduce power consumption by 50%, although that feature won't be available until the spring. The XPS 15 convertible still has that awkward webcam placement below the display panel, but it's more useful and usable than the regular webcam on the laptop version because the device can flex into multiple positions. They both include an IR camera for Windows Hello facial recognition, along with options for a Qualcomm Snapdragon X7 cellular modem. The 13 is also being offered with Ubuntu 16.04. The stylus also attaches magnetically to the side of the new XPS 15, which should help you keep track of the stylus and provide an easy way to bring the stylus with you wherever you take the convertible.

Unlike the 5290 2-in-1, which is a tablet, the 7390 2-in-1 is a convertible laptop, meaning that you can fold the display into a variety of form factors. Being a 2-in-1, you can now use the XPS 15 in four different modes, much like every other 2-in-1 device in the market.

The XPS 15 2-in-1 will have two display options.
