Paladins: Battlegrounds' team-play was created to help the game feel more like a game of Paladins than a traditional battle royale. The objective is to keep participants in Paladins: Battlegrounds actively engaged in combat and willing to duke it out until there's a single victor left.

Paladins: Battlegrounds is, as of right not, planned to be a free-to play game.

The trailer starts off showcasing that there are 100 players on the map, and as time goes on, all across the map various heroes bite the bullet and get offed. "Then they hop onto their mounts and begin exploring, looting their way through more than four dozen outposts and tracking zeppelins that drop legendary gear". Fortnite ended up gaining a ton of popularity by introducing a free Battle Royale mode to the game, and more than 26 million people purchased PlayerUnknown's Battlegrounds in order to get a taste of the action. In order to maintain the excitement, a deadly fog will surround the whole map. The last team standing wins.

No actual release date has been announced by Hi-Rez yet as the "Paladins: Battlegrounds" is "still early in development". However, there are still fans who are excited to see how this new mode will play out.

The announcement of "Paladins: Battlegrounds" was made at the Hi-Rez Expo 2018. Harris says all of those are "kind of consistent with our overall idea that we do want the encounters and the play of champions to feel consistent with the Paladins that millions of players are used to", rather than an experience that was more similar to a different game. According to the authors, this is the first Battle Royale, where you fight characters with different abilities, and different characters.

"Fortnite" has also added a free battle royal mode, which was introduced in September previous year. Players can try out these new updates in the game's public test server.
