Manchester United January transfer news LIVE Beckham wants Zlatan to stay at Old Trafford

Jose Mourinho has revealed Manchester United would not prevent Zlatan Ibrahimovic from leaving the club amid links with MLS side LA Galaxy.

The Swedish striker is one of the most polarizing figures in the history of the game and he has won 13 league titles with the likes of Paris Saint-Germain, A.C. Milan, Barcelona, Inter Milan, Juventus and Ajax. Paul Pogba and Zlatan Ibrahimovic joined in July 2016 while Romelu Lukaku signed last summer and Alexis Sanchez arrived at the club last week.

However, despite regaining his fitness in impressive time, Sweden's all-time top-scorer struggled to get back into the starting eleven and when he did break in, sustained another injury set-back.

On Monday, Man Utd manager Jose Mourinho said the Red Devils wouldn't stand in Ibrahimovic's way if he desired a move to Major League Soccer.

"If that is true and Zlatan wants a future in another club in another country then I will help and create conditions for that to happen", Mourinho told reporters. "If that is true and Zlatan wants a future in another country then we are here to help and create conditions for that to happen, not to make his life hard". We will not make his life hard.

"He's working hard to be fit. I'm not saying he's injured, he's in a moment of trying to feel really ready".

The 116-cap former Sweden global striker joined Man Utd in 2016 after his contract with French giants Paris Saint-Germain expired.

"Zlatan is in his past year of his contract", Mourinho said.

Beckham, who has launched an MLS team in Miami, said he would love to see Ibrahimovic play in the US.

The Galaxy, who have boasted David Beckham, Steven Gerrard and Robbie Keane in the past, failed to make the MLS playoffs last season.
