Melissa McCarthy makes an appearance on The Ellen DeGeneres Show, airing on Monday (February 5), and debuts an exclusive trailer from her new film, Life of the Party! The comedy was co-written by McCarthy and her husband, Ben Falcone, with Falcone also directing. Mom, Chassidy Jackson-Goodwin, put her education on hold to take care of her daughter, Jaida Jackson, and now they're both able to finish school - just like in Life of the Party.

Deanna lands in the same class and school as her daughter (Molly Gordon), who's not entirely sold on the idea. That includes a familiar makeover moment that involves an objectionable hairbrush instead of taking off a pair of glasses and pulling out a ponytail. She even starts dressing up like her daughter, attending parties with her, and making out with college-aged guys. Melissa McCarthy also has several other projects in the works, including things in her comfortable freakish realm of comedy like the The Happytime Murders (it's about puppets from a kids tv show who start to get murdered one by one). That's especially true since its early summer premiere date could position it as solid counter programming nestled in between the likes of Avengers: Infinity War and the Deadpool sequel.

McCarthy plays a housewife named Deanna who after getting dumped by her husband decides to return to college to get the degree she never quite finished. Sadly, Falcone may find a way. Life of the Party hits theaters on May 11, 2018.
