Boston Herald Removes Story About Tom Brady Threatening To Sit Out OTAs

Garoppolo became the NFL's highest-paid player by signing a five-year contract reportedly worth $137.5 million, so it's fair to wonder how Brady feels about his former backup landing so much money, especially with TB12 taking below-market contract offers in recent years.

A report claiming Tom Brady would sit out the New England Patriots' off-season activities this year unless he was given a raise was taken down after questions surfaced about the source of the information.

The Herald, which has a history of retracting and apologizing for a false report regarding the Patriots, has already pulled the story from its website. But it was revealed on WEEI Friday morning that one of the station's callers, "Nick in Boston, " had been texting Borges while pretending to be Don Yee, the agent for both Brady and Garoppolo. Well, it's all amusing but here's the funnier part: He tried to call me three times and I just didn't answer. Sports Boston's Tom Curran called the report "off the reservation" and it appears his initial assessment was spot on. But then I was just like, whatever, screw it, I'll just call him and he's gonna know it's not Don Yee.

Even though Borges has yet to comment, we do have a statement from Nick in Boston, who went on the show this morning to explain this catfishing. "But I called him and I was just like, 'Hey, Ronnie, it's Don'".

Borges indicated in the column that he had multiple sources. Back in 2007, he left the Boston Globe after being suspended for two months for plagiarism.
