Meanwhile, Britain, France, the US and five other countries asked the U.N. Security Council on Wednesday to discuss the fate of hundreds of thousands of Rohingya refugees driven from Myanmar, diplomats said, according to AFP.The council will hold a meeting next Tuesday to hear U.N. High Commissioner for Refugees Filippo Grandi's report on the crisis sparked by an army crackdown in Myanmar's Rakhine state in August.

Myanmar journalists Wa Lone and Kyaw Soe Oo face up to 14 years in a Myanmar prison after being accused by the government of "illegally (acquiring) information" after gathering testimony on the alleged massacre.

Released by Reuters news agency as part of an ongoing investigation, the photographs show 10 men tied together in a line, facing the camera.

"Until now, accounts of the violence against the Rohingya in Rakhine state have been provided only by its victims".

"At least two were hacked to death by Buddhist villagers".

The Reuters report drew on interviews with Buddhists who confessed to torching Rohingya homes, burying bodies and killing Muslims in what they said was a frenzy of violence triggered when Rohingya insurgents attacked security posts last August. "The rest were shot by Myanmar troops", Reuters reported, citing two of the gravediggers.

Reuters was provided photos of the execution by a Buddhist village elder who said he wanted transparency, to prevent such killings in the future. However, the military claims the men were members of a group of 200 "terrorists" who had attacked security forces.

USA lawmakers are calling for the exclusion of Myanmar's military from US -led defense drills in Thailand, bordering the country on the east. Officers from Myanmar were invited to observe humanitarian assistance exercises at the Cobra Gold drills on February 13, the Associated Press reported Wednesday. It said a decision was made to kill them because there was no opportunity to take them to a police station.

Reuters said Zaw Htay expressed surprise when told that Buddhist villagers had admitted burning Rohingya homes, then added, "We recognise that many, many different allegations are there, but we need to verify who did it". Villagers interviewed by Reuters said there was no attack by a large number of security forces in in Inn Din.

"Perhaps this month they (Myanmar) would send a military team to Indonesia to discuss ways of overcoming possible terrorism", Wiranto said.

"Muslim houses were easy to burn because of the thatched roofs".

The United Nations General Assembly (UNGA) also urged Myanmar to end the military campaign against Muslim Rohingyas.

CNN cannotindependently confirm Reuters reporting as media access to the region tightly controlled. "Without more effective worldwide action, this ethnic cleansing campaign will continue its disastrous march".

Hearings are continuing against Wa Lone and Kyaw Soe Oo to determine if they will be charged under the Official Secrets Act.

"These are two young journalists with families, out doing their jobs, in what we all support: free and independent journalism", Adler told CNN's Brian Stelter in January.
