TechCrunch learned Thursday that Apple has struck a deal with NBC Olympics, so it could bring live updates about the 2018 Winter Olympics to users of its iOS-powered products.

iPad and iPhone owners who want to watch events live on their device will need to download the NBC Sports app. Snapchat has also partnered with NBC to offer two- to six-minute live segments of key moments in this year's Olympic games.

While not as extensive as the Sports interface, the News section in the TV app allows users to instantly access live streaming news content from several different networks. On iOS, and at least with CNN on the Apple TV, the app is installed without a trip to the App Store, after which you are taken directly to the app to begin watching the news.

In the Apple News app, there is a new section dedicated exclusively to the Olympics, within the "For You" tab, in the United States.

Apple originally demoed this feature back in September when it unveiled the Apple TV 4K. The News feature now only includes US-based outlets, though this may change down the line.

The News section in the TV application is accessible under the main "Watch Now" header.

If you're running the most recent versions of iOS and tvOS, the feature should now be live.
