Obama officials, Clinton operatives will be Nunes' next targets in surveillance abuses

"The Democrats sent a very political and long response memo which they knew, because of sources and methods (and more), would have to be heavily redacted, whereupon they would blame the White House for lack of transparency", he tweeted. We can not stop there.

The ranking Democrat on the House Permanent Select Committee on Intelligence has been trying for months to tie Trump to all sorts of foul Russian plots. District 21 and the citizens of the North Country deserve better.

The Nunes memo alleges that Federal Bureau of Investigation and Justice Department officials relied on an unsubstantiated dossier compiled by former British spy Christopher Steele to get a warrant to conduct surveillance of Page, who served on the Trump campaign's foreign policy advisory team.

Adam Schiff (D-Calif.) is about to publish a memo justifying the questionable surveillance of associates of President Donald Trump and the use of the so-called dossier to get related spy warrants. The intelligence committee issued a subpoena for testimony from Trump's former campaign adviser and chief White House strategist Stephen Bannon after he attempted to reserve the president's right to claim executive privilege.

Trump put himself in a no-win situation with the Dem memo when he released the Nunes memo over the objections of Rosenstein and Wray.

However, this is factually incorrect, as the last page of the memo states, "The Papadopoulos information triggered the opening of an FBI counterintelligence investigation in late July 2016 by FBI agent Pete Strzok". Rosenstien has already met with Trump to review "differences between the two memos", according to Sanders. It was created for the Democratic National Committee and Hillary Clinton's 2016 presidential campaign with one objective - to discredit Trump as a presidential candidate. The dossier also contains verified information about Page's contacts with Russian Federation during the 2016 campaign. Republicans say the memo should have been released, while Democrats disagree.

As stakes mount, some congressional Republicans privately acknowledge that they fear the Democrats' 10-page rebuttal contains so much sensitive material that President Trump will be accused of censoring the documents when he makes omissions, which he is expected to do.

"Part of what they are going to do is to talk about how the White House redacted their memo and didn't redact the Republican one", one Republican lawmaker told the Examiner. "We'll brief the President on it and he'll have a decision to make as to what he wants to do with it: Should he do the same thing he did on the first memo and essentially declassify it or should he declassify it with some redactions".

"Although the President is inclined to declassify the February 5 Memorandum, because the memorandum contains numerous properly classified and especially sensitive passages, he is unable to do so at this time", White House Counsel Don McGahn said in a letter to Devin Nunes, the Republican chairman of the House panel.

Aside from his frustration with the infighting on the House Intelligence Committee, Swalwell also slammed Trump's call for the Department of Defense to hold a military parade to honor American veterans.
