Stranger Things Season 3 Episode Count Revealed (Nope! Not Eleven)

Usually when a show is as successful Stranger Things, the episode count increases.

As we previously mentioned, while it's unclear how many seasons Stranger Things will ultimately produce, the core cast is signed to a six-year contract, although co-creators the Duffer Brothers have suggested it may have a shorter run.

As for what will befall a 1985 Hawkins, Levy revealed only that "forces of evil that are new" will play a part. They're going to be nearly a year older by the time we start shooting season three.

According to TV Line, the third season will be eight episodes long, with filming starting in mid-April this year. Still, the show used that extra episode in Season 2 to expand the world of Stranger Things, give Eleven some character development, and finally find a way to tie her back into the main plot in Hawkins.

My guess is that the narrative of Season 3 does not support a ninth episode.

The introduction of Kali in Season 2 confirmed that there are other kids with special powers in the show's universe and it's possible that one or more of them might pop up in Season 3.

Confirmation of the episode count isn't the only sign of progress on the Stranger Things front.

Details are slim regarding Stranger Things Season 3, but it will apparently feature a time jump as the actors are aging in real-time. Season 2's nine-episode story, it seems, will become the exception and not the rule. That doesn't necessarily mean we should plan on waiting 11 months after production begins for Season 3, but it could be a sign that mid-2019 is the soonest we'll get new content.
