Wenger explains why Mkhitaryan stays behind after training

We're sure several former players would agree with Mkhitaryan's assessment of the different managerial techniques of both Wenger and Mourinho.

Arsenal face their bitter North London rivals Spurs this lunchtime, and their would be certainly no better way of the talented attacker enamouring himself to his new fans than by putting in a top showing today.

After a disappointing debut against Swansea where Arsenal lost 3-1, the Armenian made a terrific contribution to the Gunners' emphatic 5-1 demolition over Everton, picking up a hat-trick of assists.

But just a week later the midfielder was the talk of the town for all the wrong reasons again.

Mourinho told reporters: I can only have six players on the bench and I try to have some balance on the bench.

I have known him very well, he is one of my best friends and the best team-mate I have ever had. "Obviously, we're sad to lose him, but I'm excited to see what he does".

Mkhitaryan has started well at Arsenal and believes he has nothing to prove to anyone despite his failure at Old Trafford.

'We won three trophies in a year and a half, it's not every club that does that'. The Armenian captain who moved from Manchester United to Arsenal in the January window reveals a stark difference between the Portuguese and his current boss, Arsene Wenger. What can I say? Following that shock 2-1 defeat to Birmingham City in the 2011 League Cup final, Arsenal have won their last 10 games at Wembley.

"I think I left an impression in Manchester, although I had difficulties", he added.

"I think it ticks all the boxes".

At United, Mkhitaryan appeared to benefit from playing between Marcus Rashford and Juan Mata on the flanks and in front of Paul Pogba - who also offered creative, forward-thinking flair from midfield.

Arsenal goalkeeper Petr Cech is a doubt having been forced off with a calf injury in the win over Everton last week.
