With that in mind, the company is launching a new feature called Live. To watch any of these streams, you'll have a 30-minute free preview before needing to sign in to your TV provider, but you can use your FuboTV, DirecTV Now or Sling TV credentials to do that. While this is not necessarily a bad thing from the customer viewpoint because users now have access to more than a single platform to share Stories on, giving them freedom of choice. Unfortunately, majority require a subscription, but luckily for consumers, no contract is required for most OTT TV services making it easy to cancel after one month if they're interested in the service for just the Olympic games.

Free trials are available, and you can cancel after the Olympics. If nothing else, you can at least get what's airing on your local NBC affiliate by hustling to any big box store and picking up an indoor HDTV antenna.

The 2018 Winter Olympics are officially in full swing, and if you're not near a TV, you might be wondering how to stream them.

A few Olympics ago, NBC discovered that when it aired the men's and women's curling tournaments - even when the sport was relegated to one of its non-sports cable channels - American audiences tuned in, getting hooked on a competition they otherwise rarely see. Snapchat users will also get access to custom Context Cards, which feature posts from Olympic athletes and fans, real-time leaderboards, event schedules, and more.

The subscription requirement also applies to coverage on virtual-reality headsets.

During NBC's telecast of some early Olympics events on Thursday (February 8) a young child stepped forward to partake in his version of an Olympic event, and licked the NBC camera, New York Magazine pointed out. Those without a headset can still watch on web browsers or Apple and Android mobile devices. But you can bring Sling TV's bill down to $30 for just the two main Olympic channels and DVR. Most services let you enter your ZIP code to check whether the NBC station is available.

Finally, Snapchat will be airing live footage from the Olympics, straight from its app.

The NBC Sports app and the NBCOlympics website offer highlights, interviews and features on athletes without needing a subscription. The first partner being NBCUniversal is present, in time for the 2018 Olympic Winter Games in Pyeongchang. The Associated Press, for instance, has a Winter Games hub with traditional text, photo and video coverage alongside graphics breaking down complicated moves in figure skating and snowboarding and daily illustrations from sketch artist Dan Archer.
