Two militants carrying backpacks and AK 47 rifles were spotted by a CRPF personnel around 4.30 am as they approached the camp.

The militants then fled from the spot and entered the nearby building, the spokesperson said. "He challenged them and opened fire as well", a spokesman of the CRPF said.

What's different this time though is that unlike previous attacks which saw militants targetting security establishments along LoC and the International Border, with Sunjuwan they have come close to Jammu city.

Just a few hours after the Sunjuwan Army Camp in Jammu was attacked by at least five suspected Jaish-e-Mohammad (JeM), the Indian Army which has already been on high alert foiled an infiltration bid along the Line of Control (LOC) on Monday morning. Six army personnel and six civilians are injured. A search operation around the camp has been initiated.

The trooper was wounded in the shootout as the security forces prepared for a final assault against the holed-up militants, a police officer said. Following the terror attack, the Army had cordoned off the area, sealed all exists and had launched search operations in the area to neutralise the hidden terrorist.

Sheh Paul Veid, Director General of Police (DGP) of Jammu & Kashmir (J&K); wrote on twitter, "I congratulate alert CRPF sentry for averting Suicidal attack in Karan nagar Srinagar".
