Tripura assembly elections will be held on 60 seats on February 18 and results will be announced on March 3.

The BJP is contesting for 51 out of the 60 Assembly seats, while its ally Indigenous Peoples Front of Tripura (IPFT) is fighting in nine seats.

Starting his interaction with the media of the state, Amit Shah showed confidence in forming BJP government in the state after the elections in Tripura.

He promised to make the State a model if his party were to be voted to power. Indirectly accusing Rahul Gandhi, the BJP chief said that the Congress president had put up candidates to cut into other's vote.

Union minister Nitin Gadkari, Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, MP and filmstar Hema Malini, Arunachal Pradesh Chief Minister Pema Khandu would be star campaigners for the party in Tripura, the BJP general secretary said. "The government of "Lal Bhai" and its cadres have looted Tripura for 25 years in the name of development..."

Targetting the ruling Communist Party in the state that is in government for 25 years, Amit Shah highlighted the lack of development in Tripura. A BJP government is bound to come. "It won't be merely a change of MLAs or government but will usher in its transformation", he said.

"In the 25 years of CPIM, more than 7 lakh people are unemployed".

"2 days back the Finance Minister of Manipur Y.Joykumar, who is also the Deputy Chief Minister of Manipur while replying to a question by Congress MLA K.Ranjit had stated that the state government has not yet planned about implementation of 7th pay or its equivalent pay to its employees", Nara said during the campaign. "But under the 14th finance commission of the BJP-led National Democratic Alliance government, the amount rose to Rs25,396 crore", Shah told a rally at Mohanpur constituency on Sunday.

He also accused the Left parties of spreading rumours that the state would be divided if the BJP comes to power and asserted that there would no division and Tripura would remain as it is.

He stated that in Tripura, birth anniversaries of Stalin & Lenin are celebrated but not of Tagore & Vivekanand.
