Pence awkwardly avoids North Korean delegation at Olympics

UN chief urges dialogue in talks with North Korean official

President Donald Trump and the North's leader Kim Jong Un have engaged in a series of personal insults. The official added that Pence does not believe that the invitation dilutes the toughness of the United States pressure campaign on North Korea.

Although inter-Korean talks are occurring on the sidelines of the Olympics, Pence is confident that Seoul and Tokyo "are solidly with our alliance and the need to continue and intensify economic sanctions", the official said.

"I never thought I would visit (the South) so suddenly and believed much would be odd and different but I saw many things that were similar or the same", said Kim Yo Jong in a toast during Sunday's dinner, adding she hoped to meet the "friendly faces" before her later in Pyongyang.

The meeting and luncheon, not disclosed to the media, lasted for about three hours at the presidential complex.

North Korea's rather reclusive leader Kim Jong-un has asked South Korean President Moon Jae-in to visit Pyongyang at the "earliest date" possible for what will be a third inter-Korean summit.

The United States insisted it would continue its policy of exerting worldwide pressure on North Korea in an effort to get it to abandon its nuclear program.

Kim Jong Un and President Trump impersonators were booted from the Olympic Games' opening ceremony. The two agreed to a reconciliation pact, but Kim Jong-il took advantage of the agreement by exploiting the South for funding and aid.

Pence did not engage with North Koreans even though he was seated in the same box as them.

Speculation is rife that during Saturday's luncheon meeting between Moon and the North Korean delegation led by Kim Yong Nam, the president could be invited to Pyongyang sometime this year.

She is the first member of the Kim dynasty to visit South Korea since the Korean War, in a move many experts say may have lasting political implications.

The North's high-level delegation returned to Pyongyang from Incheon International Airport via private jet, just as they had arrived on Friday.

The delegation also included North Korea's supreme leader Kim Jong-un's younger sister Kim Yo-jong.

In response, Moon said, "Let's create conditions going forward and make it".

If it does take place, the meeting would be the first time the heads of state from North and South Korea have met for a decade.

The nuclear-armed dictator was identified by The Telegraph as an Australian musician named Howard, while his spray-tanned companion was played by American Dennis Alan.

The Trump administration, and successive American administrations before it, has insisted that North Korea must give up its nuclear weapons program if it wants to be treated as part of the worldwide community.

The two wannabe leaders posed for pictures together as a symbol of thawing relations between the two nations amid tension over nuclear weapons and North Korea's missile program.
