The new position is similar, but has a few minor modifications to make it a little more family-friendly.

In the slightly altered version Virtue still executes the legs-around hold but only very briefly before dipping one limb down and then dismounting.

Curious? The move being omitted from the program happens right around the 2:25 mark.

The move, described by The Toronto Star as "a kind of sex-chokehold", prominently figured in their routine all season.

"I think we liked that it made a statement, and it was different", explained Virtue of the provocative draping silhouette, now ditched.

"What it came down to actually was that when we slowed it down and looked on the video, it wasn't aesthetically that attractive of a position", Moir told the Toronto Star. The gravity-defying lift ends with Virtue straddling Moir's shoulders while the pair spin across the ice and Virtue cradles Moir's face.

"What it came down to actually was that when we slowed it down and looked on the video, it wasn't aesthetically that lovely of a position, so we wanted to change it, make it a little bit better", Moir told the Star on Wednesday at the Gangneung Ice Arena in PyeongChang. The move finishes with Virtue spinning her way back down onto the ice.

"We didn't know what to expect", said Moir about his third Olympics adventure.

"I don't think any of us in our entire careers, even mine, have ever skated this early, or with this type of schedule. Team Canada has such an incredible group of fearless, courageous, fun, inspiring athletes - and we'll be forever bonded thanks to the unique experiences we have the chance to share together". After receiving silver in 2014 at Sochi, the pair retired from the sport, only to return in the 2016-17 season.

The passionate pair have had to change some things.
