J&K: Encounter Breaks Out Between Terrorists, Security Forces in Baramulla's Pattan

A fierce gunfight has started between terrorists and the security forces in Jammu and Kashmir's Baramulla district on Friday.

The security forces launched a cordon and search operation in Tantray Mohalla area of Pattan in the early hours, a police official said, reported PTI.

The clashes were going on in Tantraypora area of Palhalan when reports last came in.

The authorities have already suspended train service in north Kashmir today for security reasons.

Earlier on Thursday at around 8:10 PM, militants had fired a few shots towards a CRPF camp in Awantipora area of Jammu and Kashmir's Pulwama district. Security forces had to retreat and call-off the operation after terrorist sympathisers clashed with them.

"When counter insurgency party approached the suspected house, the hiding militant opened fire on party which lead to fierece encounter", police official said.

In a similar attack, Jaish-e-Mohammad militants targetted an Army camp in Sunjuwan area of Jammu on February 10, killing seven people including six soldiers.
