Red Bull unveils 2018 vehicle with special edition livery

The RB14 has been launched in what the team have termed a "special edition livery" with the race colours to be revealed when testing begins at Barcelona's Circuit de Catalunya next week.

Red Bull has become the first of Formula One's frontrunning teams to break cover with their new auto for the coming season.

The four times world champions, third overall previous year after winning three of the 20 races, are hoping to be back in the championship mix for the first time since Mercedes began to dominate in 2014. Ricciardo will be the first to drive the RB14 in Monday's filming day at Silverstone.

It's not the first time Red Bull have adopted such a approach - back in 2015 the RB11 was launched with the black and white "camobull" paint job.

The RB14 is the third auto for the new season to be unveiled but the first which is expected to contend for wins and the world title. The aerodynamic "shark fins", rear wing "monkey seats" and "T-bars" have been removed. The current livery, for use during Monday's filming day at Silverstone, serves to hide sensitive elements of the new vehicle, similar to Red Bull's 2015 "camo-bull" livery which was used during testing.

The former world champions follow British team Williams and the American outfit Haas, who unveiled their 2018 cars last week.

Verstappen's brace of victories took Red Bull's total for the season to three after Daniel Ricciardo snatched his fifth career win in Azerbaijan earlier in the year. "I have another year with the Red Bull contract so we will see where l end up".

"It's preferable to finish the vehicle early and deal with any snags now, when the auto is on a track a short drive from the factory, rather than using up one of our eight ultra-precious test days doing the same at the Circuit de Catalunya".
