Temperatures weren't expected to warm above the low 30s Wednesday afternoon, so much of the ice that fell Tuesday was not expected to melt. High temperatures will be in the middle and upper 40s.

Today, the sun will rise at 7:12:23 a.m. and set at 6:14:56 p.m.

We're back to warmer than normal temperatures early next work week, but after Wednesday, it looks like a more sustained stretch of seasonable (and potentially stormy) weather could develop for early March.

Today's forecast calls for mostly cloudy skies with a high of 27 and a 40 percent chance of snow. There is an 80 percent chance of precipitation.

Madison picked up 0.63 inches of rain at the airport on Tuesday, bringing the February precipitation (rain and melted snow) total up to 1.94 inches, 0.97 inches above normal. West southwest wind 10 to 15 miles per hour, with gusts as high as 23 miles per hour. Highs will be in the mid-80s with south winds 5 to 10 miles per hour.

We already hit our high temperature in the mid to upper 60s shortly after midnight last night, and now the cooler air on the backside of that cold front is starting to filter into our region. New precipitation amounts of less than a tenth of an inch possible.

Sunday: A 20 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms after noon. Cloudy, with a low around 57. Another cold front pushes through the area Thursday triggering scattered showers and thunderstorms. Mostly cloudy, with a low around 24. Mostly cloudy, with a high near 49. Mostly cloudy, with a low around 14.

However, this will start to switch over more so to freezing drizzle and freezing rain as temperatures drop a few degrees overnight tonight.
