On the outside, the California Special Mustang flaunts a fading stripe stretching from the 5.0 badge up front to the rear fenders, a blackened grille, a splitter donated by the Mustang Performance Pack 1 and five-spoke machined rims. All 2019 Mustang GTs with manual transmissions will have a rev-matching function for smooth downshifts that don't require you to do your own heel-and-toe work. A "California Special" script badge adorns the dash on the passengers side. "This signature design takes its cues from the original California Special, while enhancing the personality of today's Mustang".

The 50th anniversary Bullitt Mustang isn't the only special version of Ford's muscle auto icon being introduced for 2019. Unique wheels round out the CS package.
