Sealing Drive

The sources said on Tuesday that the Delhi chief minister Arvind Kejriwal's advisor VK Jain has resigned from his post mentioning personal reasons and family commitments, days following he was questioned by police in connection with the alleged assault on chief secretary Anshu Prakash.

"Subhash Chopra (Ex PCC President & Speaker Delhi Assembly) and Arvinder Lovely to accompany me in a 3-member delegation for all-party meeting on sealing going with a set of solutions, based on our experience, having successfully dealt with the issue in 2006-07".

On a day when thousands of shops across the city were shut to protest against an ongoing sealing drive in the city, AAP and Congress said that an all-party delegation will meet a Supreme Court-appointed Monitoring Committee to find a solution to the drive.

The Municipal Corporations have undertaken the sealing drive following directions of the Supreme Court appointed committee previous year.

The all-party meeting ended up being an AAP and Congress meeting, with the BJP boycotting.

While Kejriwal "missed" BJP in the meeting, AAP and Congress attacked BJP for missing an opportunity to "speak for the traders".

AAP sources said the coming together of the two parties was to find a solution to the problems faced by traders, who are considered supporters of the BJP generally. "We had a very good meeting with the representatives of Congress. BJP boycotted it".

BJP had earlier expressed apprehensions about the meeting, with MLA Vijender Gupta even advising other participants to wear helmets.

In a statement, the party said, "the Delhi BJP feels there is no objective of such a meeting as the intentions of the government of Delhi are not clear on the matter".

"We have given a representation to the CM, and will send this to the BJP also, in which we have divided the city into six parts". He also advised Kejriwal to move court. All major wholesale and retail markets in Delhi will remain closed today as traders observe a "trade bandh" to protest against the sealing drive by the municipal corporations. The meeting lasted nearly for an hour and was fruitful, Maken said. "He should also notify 351 roads for mixed land use without any further delay", he said, reported Hindustan Times.

"The government should appoint prominent lawyers as the chief minister has appointed for his personal litigation", BJP said in a letter to Kejriwal.
