The move equals over $7 million dollars in salary cap savings for the team, per SB Nation. On Monday, they made the move official.

Parker finally found a long-term home in Kansas City after spending the first couple years of his professional football career bouncing between teams. Parker has been a mainstay in the Chiefs secondary since back in 2013.

Tamba Hali's run in Kansas City is over. He landed with the Seattle Seahawks on three separate stints from 2011 to 2012 while also spending bits of time with the Oakland Raiders and the Carolina Panthers.

Hali dealt with knee issues last season and appeared in a career-low five games, recording one tackle.

Parker was a free-agent signee by the Chiefs in the 2013 and spent five seasons with the club.

Parker continued to perform well in 2015 and 2016 but had a down year in 2017 which likely contributed to his eventual release, along with the team's desire to go younger on defense and clear up cap space.

In 177 regular-season games, Hali recorded 453 tackles, 89.5 sacks and 10 interceptions.
