Apple Maps now includes bike sharing data for more than 175 cities

Divvy stations in Chicago are now a part of a bike-sharing data app.

This new feature introduced in Apple Maps will help the company better compete with the likes of Google Maps, which will also let users search for bike-sharing docks.

Ito World's bike share data feed shows the locations of bikes and docking stations for 179 cities (and counting) including 176 bike share systems for a total of more than 12,810 points of interest.

As reported by TechCrunch, Apple was able to seamlessly include information for many bike sharing services by integrating the data from Ito World, instead of doing the work on its own. Apple Maps is limited to only showing users the address, name and contact information for the different doesn't have the ability to present data on the number of available bikes or empty docks at present, as pointed out by MacRumors. I hope the company is going to add this in an upcoming update.

Though the latest update is a big thing, it isn't enough to lure users of more sophisticated apps for bike-sharing information. You can start searching for bike-sharing services on Apple Maps right now.

Apple Maps supports Citi Bike in NYC, Ford GoBike in San Francisco, BIKETOWN in Portland, Santander Cycles in London, bicing in Barcelona, BIXI in Montreal, CityCycle in Brisbane, nextbike in Germany, Austria, Croatia, Switzerland, the United Kingdom, and dozens of others.
