CM Punk appears headed to UFC 225

It's been rumored for a while now, and where there's smoke, there's more often than not fire.

The CM Punk MMA show isn't over just yet.

As TMZ Sports noted, this is the date of UFC 225 in Chicago, which happens to be his hometown.

Former WWE Champion CM Punk confirmed he has a second mixed martial arts fight in the UFC booked. The main card airs on pay-per-view following prelims on FS1 and UFC Fight Pass, though the full lineup ands bout order haven't been finalized.

White, for the record, has yet to comment on Punk's latest statement.

On Monday, a Twitter user attempted to goad the former World Wrestling Entertainment star in to a response by asking "So when are we gonna see you cry again in the Octagon?"

The 39-year-old, real name Phil Brooks, made a decision to swap the wrestling ring for the octagon back in 2014 but was humiliated on his debut, losing via submission to Mickey Gall in just over two minutes in 2016. A pro wrestler who was a popular but controversial figure in the WWE, he had zero MMA experience other than training off and on in jiu-jitsu. The fight ended in the first round, with Punk forced to tap to a rear-naked choke. However, in recent months, no doubt because the UFC is once again struggling to produce stars, promotion president Dana White has been signing a different tune.

Fittingly enough, Jackson is also 0-1 in his UFC career, with his loss coming in a first-round submission to Gall at UFC Fight Night 82.
