'If Europe won't fix Iran deal, U.S. will nix agreement'

"Trump said he demands "significant changes" in the Iran deal itself and not simply the addition of a supplemental agreement between the US and the European countries, according to the officials".

"Moreover, I remind you that Iran declares, on an nearly daily basis - including recently, its intention to wipe out the State of Israel".

Trump has pointed to three defects in the JCPOA which he is asking European allies to help fix: the deal's failure to address Iran's ballistic missile program; the terms under which global inspectors can visit Iranian nuclear sites; and "sunset" clauses under which limits on the Iranian nuclear program start to expire after 10 years.

USA officials will pick up discussions with their European Union counterparts about the fate of the Iran nuclear deal.

Netanyahu discussed Iran in similar terms to those in his speech at AIPAC last week, pressing that, to Iran, Israel is the "little Satan" standing in the way of Iran's goal of Middle Eastern - and eventually - world domination.

Israel does not partake in the talks directly but is updated on any progress regarding the negotiations.

Additionally, Trump threatened to pull-out of the Iran deal - a threat he has repeatedly made throughout his tenure as president and a candidate - if the steps he is proposing are not taken. Another round of talks is expected to begin on Thursday in Berlin.

"President Trump has called on the Congress and our European allies to enact real and lasting restraints on Iran's nuclear and ballistic missile ambitions".

"On January 16, 2016, Implementation Day under the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA), the United States lifted nuclear-related sanctions on Iran", reads the presidential statement.
