President Muhammadu Buhari told a town hall meeting in Makurdi today that Inspector-general of Police, Idris Ibrahim has some query to answer as to why he violated his order to relocate to Benue state, following the killings of 73 villagers by herdsmen.

He reiterated his call for the arrest of the leadership of Miyetti Allah Kautal Hore for "being responsible for the killings".

Buhari, who met with farmers, herdsmen, government officials and other stakeholders in Makurdi, denied insinuations that he was not interested in what was happening to the north-central state.

Ortom thanked the presidential committee for making the camp available to the state to house victims of herdsmen attacks, stating that to complement efforts of the federal government, the state sunk three boreholes in the camp to address the water need.

He said the continued violence and insurgency required collaboration and collective urgent attention, stressing that tackling security challenges must begin from the roots to secure permanently solution. "We believe that during the visit he would give directives to his security chiefs who include the Minister of Defence and the Inspector General of Police so that things would be better for us in Benue State", Ujege said.

"We will also let the president know that there is no going back on our ranching law".

Ortom said that many states were now involved in massive cultivation of rice, and urged his people to join the trend.

"The President will listen to all the parties in the conflict and thereafter, he will deliver his own homily and, of course, sympathies to the people over the unfortunate losses of persons and property", he said. "I urge Benue people to speak with one voice, remain united, be patient and tolerate each other as we look forward to the future and put the ugly past behind us", he said.

He stated further that the burial will now take place next week Thursday.
