Another feature that has been introduced is "Add an address" which lets users address specific locations, much like how businesses add their locations. Well, not anymore, as Google has introduced Plus Codes on Google Maps in India.

Plus Codes are based on a system that divides the geographical surface of the Earth into tiny "tiled areas".

With these features, Google intends to hit the right spot for the growth of technology in India, as Plus Codes integration in business will help them grow whereas the native voice navigation will be a boon Indians all over.

Addresses are unique in format, and vary across regions, localities, and use cases.

Notably, this open source solution composed of 10 characters works globally and can be incorporated by other products and platforms for free, with a developer page available here. Google says that it will check the submitted entries and verification, and after ensuring that they don't contain details like the name of the people or phone numbers, it will approve them to be included in the list of addresses in the Google Maps. The likes of temporary events, guiding emergency services to afflicted locations, finding complicated addresses and more can be easily done with this openly sourced feature.

To enhance the discovery of addresses, Google has introduced Plus codes for locations, which are six characters along with city codes. Users will also get points for each successful submission. However, there are times when a certain address just doesn't show up on Google Maps for myriad reasons. According to the company, it is an innovative approach to provide the best estimate of the location of an address.

The company is aiming to improve the address search in the country by organising the location-related information while making it more accessible and relevant. Google Maps is now launching voice navigation in six additional Indian languages: Bengali, Gujarati, Kannada, Telugu, Tamil, and Malayalam. "We are deeply committed to helping find solutions to these challenges". While some addresses are well defined by street names and house numbers that are easy to find, others can be long-winded and hard to locate. Smart Address Search helps doing exactly that: "if Google Maps doesn't understand the address precisely, it will try to use all the pieces of information in the address and provide options of landmarks and points of interest that the user can best identify with - exactly like a person would have", the brand added. Using maps in such a location is nigh impossible, given the lack of identifiers.

"It doesn't stop there - India continues to inspire us and pushes us to reimagine what Maps can do for people". For further accuracy, the code can be broken down, even more, to locate an area as small as 3 x 3 meters, so you can make sure to be always found on the map.
