With each data center costing upwards of a billion dollars, this isn't a small investment and considering that the company's cloud services are driving the largest growth on the balance sheet, it's obvious why the company is bringing these new regions online.

Switzerland will get two new datacenters in Geneva and Zurich, which are primarily due to Microsoft's engagement with financial institutions in the region.

The reports, in WirtschaftsWoche and Handelsblatt, said that Microsoft already offered services on the German cloud in partnership with Deutsche Telekom, and hosted other European data centers in Dublin and Amsterdam.

In contrast to the Microsoft Cloud Deutschland, the company's two new cloud computing centres reportedly will be part of Microsoft's global cloud network, in an effort to target more worldwide companies, said WiWo.

Microsoft has a long history of collaboration with various companies which are reliable.

The regulation will be made available from May 25th, 2018. The new announcement expands Azure regions to 50 regions across the globe, which includes plans for 12 new regions.

Office 365 and Dynamics 365 also continue to expand the data residency options for customers with 17 geographies announced. Each datacenter geography, or geo, delivers a consistent experience, backed by robust policies, controls and systems to help keep data safe and help comply with local and regional regulations.
