Mild weather at an end as cold winds from east return and bring risk of snow

The Met Office has issued a series of long-range yellow warnings for snow as another cold snap moves in from the east.

Highs of 2C are now forecast over the weekend.

Heavier snow is expected to fall throughout much of Friday and into Saturday on even higher ground across parts of central, eastern and northern Scotland.

On Sunday the "feels like" temperature is forecast to be -7C.

A yellow weather warning for snow and ice is in place for Yorkshire from 5pm on Friday, and will last until 9am on Saturday.

'As far as the snow is concerned, we think it is going to be mainly in the south east part of the country'.

The notorious "Beast From The East", dubbed due to it's origins from Russian Federation, swept the United Kingdom at the end of February bringing us snowy conditions out of the ordinary for this time of year.

"This is most likely near the Thames estuary and the Wash, and these snow showers could then spread westwards".

It will also be a short spell of bad weather, with temperatures set to return to normal springtime levels by Wednesday.

Cold air is moving our way from Europe and it will see temperatures plunge this weekend.
