St. Lawrence County is under a winter weather advisory through 8 a.m. Wednesday, according to the National Weather Service located in Burlington, Vt. While any accumulations will be light, the heaviest snow showers will reduce the visibility for short periods of time and create slick spots on area roads.

As of about 3 p.m. on Monday, sleet and some snow were falling in the Triangle, mixing with freezing rain.

One to two inches of snow were expected north of I-85 across the northern Piedmont, in Vance and Warren counties.

Tonight there will be a chance of snow mixed with rain after 7 p.m., then gradually ending. Monday night will be cold, with lows in the upper 20s to low 30s, and windy, with sustained winds of 10 to 20 miles per hour and gusts up to 25 miles per hour. "Total snow accumulations of 7 to 11 inches, with localized amounts up to 15 inches in the elevated terrain in southern Onondaga and southern Madison counties".

Motorists should be prepared for areas of black ice overnight and during the morning commute, especially on untreated roads and sidewalks.

Orange and Ulster will see high temperatures in the upper 30s on Tuesday, while Sullivan can expect highs in the mid to low 30s.
