During a round of auditions that aired earlier this week locally on Fox8, which airs the show the same day as the U.S., the three judges were introduced to 19-year-old Benjamin Glaze, an Oklahoma native who sang an original tune with hopes of getting the ever-coveted golden ticket. He says singing in front of the "I Kissed A Girl" singer was a "surreal" experience that he can't really put into words. "I wanted to save it for my first relationship". The "unwanted kiss" has been receiving some backlash on social media for its predatory nature, while others considered the teenager lucky for kissing the "I Kissed a Girl" singer.

The controversial lip lock went down during an audition interview in which the electronics store cashier admitted to never having kissed a girl. "But for me, I was raised in a conservative family and I was uncomfortable immediately". "Am I the only one who was seriously uncomfortable about the Katy Perry kiss on #AmericanIdol?" wrote one Twitter user.

Instead, Perry landed an impromptu smooch on Glaze's lips when he was leaning in to kiss her on the cheek.

Mr. Glaze then asked for a drink of water, delivered a lackluster audition and was kindly rejected by the judges.

Glaze's audition was not successful and he was sent home. The "Roar" singer noticed the young man and candidly told him he could come hang out with her anytime.

A guy not liking a kiss from Katy Perry?

After the episode, which was filmed last October, aired, Benjamin spoke to The New York Times about the kiss.

But it didn't satisfy the 33-year-old popstar who complained that Benjamin "didn't make the smooch sound".

Glaze told the outlet he didn't feel sexually harassed and was glad that Perry tweeted about him. On the American Idol website, Mr. Glaze's performance is posted under the headline, "Benjamin Glaze's First Kiss and Audition". Now he's saying it upset his first kiss plans.

"It was lip contact versus a romantic situation with someone you care about", he said. Many viewers were also offended by such forward behavior.
