The move to Tennessee reunites Butler with three former members of the New England organization - cornerback Logan Ryan, general manager Jon Robinson and first-year head coach Mike Vrabel.

Ian Rapoport of NFL Network revealed on-air that Butler is signing a five-year deal worth more than $61 million that includes $30 million guaranteed with the Tennessee Titans.

He intercepted Russell Wilson's pass at the goal line with 20 seconds left in the game, preventing a go-ahead touchdown from the Seattle Seahawks. He eventually evolved into a critical piece of New England's secondary, but Bill Belichick surprisingly benched him (apart from special teams) for their defeat this past February to the Philadelphia Eagles. Other teams, such as the Detroit Lions, also were hot on Butler's trail in free agency.

Butler joined the Patriots as an undrafted free agent in 2014 and has won two Super Bowls with the team in his four seasons.

General manager Jon Robinson, hired in January 2016, got his National Football League start as a New England scout.

The New Orleans Saints pursued Butler as a restricted free agent previous year, but the trade price was too high.

The 28-year-old Butler was named to the Pro Bowl in 2015. There's another $3 million via incentives. Interestingly, Butler was beaten twice for touchdowns by rookie wide receiver Corey Davis in the Patriots' divisional-round victory over the Titans.

New England also signed Stephon Gilmore past year, signaling Butler was falling out of favor with Bill Belichick.

Lewis would certainly fit in Pat Shurmur's scheme because of his ability to be a home run hitter as a ball-carrier and threat as a pass-catcher out of the backfield.

Lewis set a career-high with 896 rushing yards last season despite receiving fewer than 10 carries in six games.
