During the event, Modi dedicated the Madhepura Electric Rail Locomotive factory to the nation and flagged off India's first high-speed electric locomotive.

"But I will laud Nitish ji for his patience and good governance and the way he is fighting anti-social elements, it is not easy", he said during his almost 50-minute speech, which he began in Bhojpuri, much to the delight of the local people.

The PM visit is a part of the concluding celebration of Champaran Satyagraha centenary launched by the Bihar Government in April past year.

He also laid the foundation stone for new LPG bottling plant at Sagauli. "Some destructive forces are trying to disturb the government who has been trying to work for development", Prime Minister Narendra Modi said while addressing a gathering during the event.

"Mahatma Gandhi had inspired the Champaran Satyagraha of 1917 to protest against the Britishers for Indian farmers" right to cultivate indigo.

He also inaugurated schemes worth Rs 6,000 crore in Bihar. He also said the banks of the Ganga in Bihar will soon become open defecation free. He also symbolically flagged off, using a remote device, a 12000 HP freight electric locomotive and the Champaran-Humsafar Express train from Katihar to Delhi. He claimed that the project was approved in 2007 but did not begin till the NDA government came to power. "The government is doing everything with the help of the citizens", he said, referencing the UPA government. "Till the time cleanliness does not become a part of every person's life, our mission won't be complete". As Swachhtagrahis, our role should be the same. He was received upon arrival by Governor Satyapal Malik and CM Nitish Kumar.

Prime Minister Modi also laid the foundation for the doubling of railway lines of Muzaffarpur-Sugauli-Valmikinagar division.
