Four men are wanted in connection to an assault on a gay couple at Miami Beach Pride

A gay couple were beaten to the ground by a group of four men in Florida for holding hands on the beach on Sunday evening.

According to police, three of four young men who are seen in a picture - one of them wearing an FIU T-shirt and another with a red and white patterned beach towel over his right shoulder - attacked the two men, Rene Charlarca and Dmitry Logunov.

The beating continued after Logunov was knocked to the ground and Charlarca tried to confront the attackers.

Chalarca and Lugonov said one of their attackers yelled an offensive Spanish word for homosexuals before hitting them several times.

When the two victims tried to run away, they were chased by the four attackers. "It happened so quick", he told the Herald.

"We celebrate Pride because, frankly, it's important to us that people know that this is a city that believes in diversity and embraces inclusivity", Miami Beach Mayor Dan Gelber said.

A good Samaritan attempted to intervene but, Miami Beach police spokesman Ernesto Rodriguez told WPLG, "he was attacked as well". Estrada suffered a laceration to the back of his head, and there was a "pool of blood" where he fell, according to the incident report.

The arrests came after Miami Beach officials met with LGBT leaders Tuesday about the attack.

"We probably provoked them because we were walking together, holding hands", said victim Dmitry Logunov.

Miami Police are asking for help to identify the men involved in the attack.

"I dont agree with it", he said.

"It doesn't matter if you're gay or straight, we all should respect each other".

Police said they were seeking four Hispanic males aged between 19 and 24.

Anyone with information about the attack is asked to contact Miami-Dade Crime Stoppers at 305-571-TIPS.
