J&K: One soldier killed, two injured in Kulgam gunfight

An encounter broke out between terrorists and the security forces in Kulgam district of South Kashmir during wee hours on Wednesday.

According to the media reports, 2 army soldiers and 1 CRPF jawan were left injured in the encounter.

Security forces launched a cordon and search operation in the district's Khudwani area last night, following information about presence of militants there. "The gunfight is still underway", police said.

The firing is now underway in Khudwani area of the district in Jammu and Kashmir.

J&K police officials claim that two to three militants are trapped in the house. The train services from Srinagar to Banihal have also been suspended.

Meanwhile, one civilian and an army man has been killed so far in the ongoing gunfight in Kulgam. However, the trains will be plying normally on Srinagar-Baramulla route.

Two other security personnel were also injured as the the holed up militants fired at security forces in Wani Mohalla of Kulgam district, informed sources in the police said.
