Unlike Fizdale, the nomadic Blatt is now in a job.

Just hours after the New York Knicks beat the Cleveland Cavaliers, head coach Jeff Hornacek was relieved of his duties. He has been with Los Angeles since Phil Jackson fired him following the 2013-14 season and finished with a Knicks career record of 109-79.

According to ESPN, Knicks president Steve Mills and the team's general manager Scott Perry told Hornacek he was sacked after they returned to NY after beating the Cavs 110-98 at the Quicken Loans Arena.

The Knicks already had an interview scheduled with David Fizdale, whom Woodson originally hired in 2004 in Atlanta. Woodson is responsible for the only postseason playoff series victory in the past 18 years. But now he could be set for a return to the Eastern Conference with the Knicks.

"I think in NY, it's better to have done this before, " said Woodson, who was the last coach to guide the team to the playoffs.

The former All-Star forward, who played in the National Basketball Association from 1999 until 2017, had a very underwhelming 2013-14 season in what turned out to be his only year with the Knicks.

Maybe now, Vogel will get his shot in NY.

The Knicks hope that the young core it builds around Porzingis can be an attractive selling point for free agents.

The news of KP's injury sent shockwaves not only through NY but throughout the basketball world, as one of the league's brightest young stars would be forced to make a lengthy and tedious recovery - one that doesn't always guarantee a successful return.

Milwaukee, Phoenix and Memphis made coaching changes during the regular season, inserting interim head coaches. "I think they will make the right decisions, so we have to trust them".
