President Muhammadu Buhari, who is in the United Kingdom on an official visit, has defended his decision to seek re-election next year, saying he wanted to end speculation so he could concentrate on his job. The anti- corruption war and fights against insecurity will be consolidated.

President Buhari had officially declared his intention to seek re-election on Monday, April 9, during the National Executive Committee (NEC) meeting of the All Progressives Congress (APC) after various speculations.

"Down the line, the people's interest has remained the focus of his government, anchored on the improvement of security, economy and fighting corruption tripod". This was partially a function of the reliance on oil that saw us abandon the historical revenue collection systems and switch to a culture of sharing resources, rather than generating them.

He said: "we have cut the importation of rice by about 90 per cent, saving billions of dollars in the process". It takes the collective effort of all to achieve a better Nigeria, " Nihi said. Even professionals have gone back to the land.

"We have no doubts that Buhari's declaration is the final revelation of the impending demise of APC", he said.

Mr Femi Adesina, the President's Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, in a statement in Abuja, said Buhari stated this when he received the Archbishop of Canterbury, His Grace Justin Welby in London on Wednesday. Nigeria should be able to feed itself comfortably soon.

"We have serially shouted on top of our voices, reminding Ndigbo of the imperative of voting for Buhari, so as to harvest the golden opportunity provided by the presidential zoning convention between Northern and Southern geopolitical zones in 2023".

According to him, no true religion advocates the hurting or killing of the innocent.

Although things are not really working the way we expected but with the foundation the president has put in place in the last 3 years, his reelection will consolidate the gain.
