Saudi king denounces 'blatant interference' by Iran in Arab affairs

Dhahran, Apr. 15 (BNA): His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa today headed the kingdom's delegation to the 29th Arab Summit, which kicked off here today.

Saudi Arabia's King Salman on Sunday opened an Arab League summit by criticising US President Donald Trump's decision to transfer the US embassy in Israel from Tel Aviv to Jerusalem.

Salman also announced a $150 million donation for the upkeep of Islamic heritage sites in eastern Yerushalayim. "We reiterate our rejection of the United States decision on Jerusalem", the royal said.

Saudi Arabia's King Salman slammed Iran's "blatant interference" in regional affairs as Arab leaders met in the kingdom on Sunday for an annual summit.

The Saudi King also presented the kingdom's initiative and willingness to deal with the challenges that the Arab national security is facing.

He also blamed Tehran, which has repeatedly denied supplying ballistic missiles to Yemen's Houthi militia, of being responsible for the rebels' attacks targeting the Kingdom.

King Abdullah II bin Al-Hussain of the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan, the President of the previous Arab League Summit, delivered a speech in which he expressed his thanks to King Salman bin Abdulaziz for the warm reception and generous hospitality.

"Bahrain always appreciates your courageous stances in its support, and in rejection and condemnation of external interference that affects the internal affairs of our country, and which we are working on repelling and defeating", HM the King added.

Then King Salman assumed the presidency of the 29th ordinary session of the Arab Summit.

"The Israeli settlement is going on, backed by the U.S. administration", Abbas said during his speech, calling for holding an worldwide conference for a full Palestinian membership in the United Nations.
