Mr Trump said in a series of angry Twitter messages, adding that he had been a bad Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) director.

In the book, which is available April 17, Comey also reveals new details about how the government had unverified classified information that he believes could have been used to cast doubt on Attorney General Loretta Lynch's independence in the Clinton probe. "He lied to Congress under OATH", Trump tweeted. "I was floating above myself, looking down, saying, 'You're sitting here briefing the incoming president of the United States about prostitutes in Moscow.'" Comey said that Trump brought the dossier back up months later, asking Comey to investigate it and prove it didn't happen.

White House spokeswoman Sarah Huckabee Sanders said on Twitter Friday: "One of the few areas of true bipartisan consensus in Washington is Comey has no credibility".

Sanders is accusing Comey of leaking classified information and breaking his "sacred trust with the president of the United States, the dedicated agents of the Federal Bureau of Investigation, and the American people".

Unbelievably, James Comey states that Polls, where Crooked Hillary was leading, were a factor in the handling (stupidly) of the Clinton Email probe.

In an interview broadcast on Friday on ABC's "Good Morning America," Comey said he cautioned Trump against ordering an investigation into the dossier.

Trump fired Comey in May 2017, setting off a scramble at the Justice Department that led to the appointment of Robert Mueller as special counsel overseeing the Russian Federation investigation.

Trump is reacting to Comey's new book, which compares the president to an unethical mob boss who demands loyalty and twists facts to serve his objective.

"He said, you know, 'If there's even a 1 percent chance my wife thinks that's true, that's bad'".

In A Higher Loyalty, Comey admits that his actions in 2016 were politically motivated. Instead, he writes, they launched into a strategy session about how to "spin what we'd just told them" for the public. "It was my great honor to fire James Comey!". This morning, The Atlantic's Natasha Bertrand pointed out a discrepancy between Comey's recollection of his conversation with Trump and reported testimony in front of the House Intelligence Committee regarding that infamous night in Moscow.

December 3: Trump tweets, "I never asked Comey to stop investigating Flynn".

The Washington Post obtained a copy of the book before its scheduled release on Tuesday.

"After the Comey letter, my momentum was stopped", she told NPR in late 2017. "And I'm about to talk to him about allegations that he was involved with prostitutes in Moscow and that the Russians taped it and have leverage over him".

On the verge of tears, Comey told Obama, "Boy, were those words I needed to hear". "His leadership is transactional, ego-driven and about personal loyalty", he writes, according to The New York Times. Comey has said that some of the memos he wrote after meeting with Trump included classified material but that the one he passed to a friend did not.

Days prior to the 2016 election, Comey sent a letter to Congress announcing his intention to reopen the investigation into Hillary Clinton's emails after discovering additional emails on the former Rep. Anthony Weiner's computer while investigating him for alleged sexting with a underage girl. "I said it was up to him".
