The state funeral service of legendary struggle stalwart Winnie Madikizela-Mandela took place on Saturday 14 April at Orlando Stadium in Soweto.

Malema allegedly told a soldier who tried to stop him that "no white man can stop me". Malema shook the stadium with his fiery speech that became a trending topic on social media. "They are crying the loudest, more than us - who died for you", Malema said, before lambasting those he believed had wronged the struggle veteran.

He also attacked ANC leaders who called her a criminal and who further prevented her from speaking at youth struggle icon Peter Mokaba's funeral. "Together with her late husband, Nelson Mandela, Winnie epitomised remarkable sacrifices for the freedom of all of us against the tyranny of apartheid".

The ANC praised Madikizela-Mandela for her resilience and refusal to stand by while people suffered. "It is so disappointing to see how they withheld their words during my mother's lifetime, knowing very well what they would have meant to her", said Dlamini.

Ramaphosa said Madikizela-Mandela spoke of many thoughts she had about how the revolutionary ideals and morality of her movement should be restored and not be undermined by corruption and self-enrichment. "Let us honour her memory by pledging here that we will not betray the trust of her people, we will not squander or steal their resources, and that we will serve them diligently and selflessly", Ramaphosa said.

"I'm here, Mama, to express my condolences to your biological children whom I know and the rest of the Madikizela and Mandela family".

Malema closed his emotive tribute by asking that Cape Town International Airport be named after her.

Today Malema is Zuma's bitterest political enemy, and his joining the fight to oust Zuma from the presidency was a bittersweet victory for the young opposition leader.

Some of the speakers at the funeral included President Cyril Ramaphosa, fashion icon and model Naomi Campbell and EFF leader Julius Malema.
