Shenmue I & II remaster officially announced with first trailer

Following clear demonstration of interest, Sega surprised nobody with the announcement that it was looking into high-definition remasters of the original games, and now that too has borne fruit with the announcement of exactly that for consoles and Windows PCs.

Shenmue 1 and 2 were originally exclusive to the Sega Dreamcast, with the first game arriving in 1999 and the sequel landing in 2001. Each title will support scalable screen resolutions as well as PC custom graphics options. However, we suspect the modern option will fix some of the.wonkiness of the original game's controls.

The games will be released in both physical and digital formats, and they'll feature improved textures, which should come as a relief to anyone who remembers the original Dreamcast versions.

On top of this, there'll be an element of novelty in the likes of the achievements included on all the platforms (PC via Steam, PS4's Trophies, and Xbox One), and there will be the opportunity to choose among Japanese and English dubs.

For more gaming news, keep it locked in here at GameSpace. All we know is that it will be released this year with no exact date. The original Shenmue was considered to be perhaps the most ambitious game of all-time upon its initial release.

The developer has provided very slight details about the Shenmue I & II package but has indeed hosted a small event for few Internet personalities and selected members of the press, who had a chance to be given some additional particulars.
