U.S. to announce more sanctions against Russian Federation

President Donald Trump addresses the nation about the U.S.-led airstrikes in Syria

U.S. ambassador to the United Nations Nikki Haley announced on Sunday that the USA will imminently impose a new rounds of sanctions on Russian Federation.

Yesterday, the U.S. ambassador to the UN, Nikki Haley, warned a wave of new sanctions were on the way with the aim of punishing Russian Federation for its backing of Syrian leader Bashar al-Assad. "Secretary Mnuchin will be announcing those on Monday, if he hasn't already".

Russia has never supplied Syria with dual-use technologies, and USA accusations are fake, first deputy chairman of the Russian parliament's upper house Defense Committee Yevgeny Serebrennikov told Sputnik on Sunday.

The United States will want to maintain a dialogue with Russia about strategic stability following Western missile strikes on Syria, Russian news agencies cited a Russian Foreign Ministry official as saying on Sunday.

Haley said the joint military strike "put a heavy blow into their chemical weapons program, setting them back years" and reiterated that if Assad uses poison gas again, "the United States is locked and loaded".

Russian Federation has military forces, including air defenses, in several areas of Syria to support Assad in his long war against anti-government rebels.

President Donald Trump warned Russian President Vladimir Putin earlier this week that missiles would be coming to Syria.

Russian lawmaker Dmitry Sablin, who met with Assad, said he appeared upbeat and believed the airstrikes would unify the country.

Senior members of the lower house of parliament have said they are considering legislation to give the Kremlin powers to ban or restrict a list of US imports.

A Kremlin statement said Putin and Rouhani agreed that the Western strikes had damaged the chances of achieving a political resolution in the multi-sided, seven-year conflict that has killed at least half a million people. "This is not about trying to turn the tide of the conflict in Syria", he told the BBC, adding that Russian Federation was the only country able to pressure Assad to negotiate an end to the conflict. Moscow has also tempered its tone, saying only that "there will be consequences". Each Britain and France engaged in the strikes, which struck at Advancement Heart and the Barzah Investigation outside Damascus and two weapons storage centers.

Asked about Trump's "Mission Accomplished" assertion, White said it pointed to the successful targeting of the three Syrian chemical weapons sites.

Assad denies he has used chemical weapons, and the Trump administration has yet to present hard evidence of what it says precipitated the allied missiles attack: a chlorine gas attack on civilians in Douma on April 7.
